Leadership development expands the capacity of individuals to perform in leadership roles.

The ability to lead and manage others to get a result is a true skill and good leaders invest their time and energy to learn and to practice the skills they need.

In this fast paced world where the rate of change is increasing and many of you are trying to achieve more with less, leadership development is ever more important.

Leadership development programs generally fall into shorter workshops or longer term programs and may include an element of one on one coaching.

Shorter workshops

Shorter workshops generally 1 to 4 days to build awareness, knowledge and abilities on targeted leadership skills. I collaborate with you to ensure that these support your organisational priorities thereby delivering value to the leaders who participate as well as to your organisation as a whole. I want you to feel confident your needs are met and you’ve had value for the investment.

One to four day workshops can target specific skills for example:

  • Communicate for results
  • Create high performance teams
  • Customer service focus

  • Identify how to engage staff
  • Introduction to supervision (3-4 days)
  • Lead change effectively

Longer term programs

My longer term programs build confidence and leadership ability. These 6 – 12 month development programs deepen knowledge, skill and confidence over time. Leaders have the opportunity to develop a leadership mindset that helps support your organisation’s sustainability and profit. Longer term programs also have the capacity to lead to a Diploma of Leadership and Management (BSB51915), giving your Leaders a practical leadership qualification.

We will work together to focus on what will be different; the results you wish to achieve and what will support leaders to apply the learning to their roles. My mantra is to want to focus efforts only where I truly believe it is possible to make a difference.

360ᵒ feedback and coaching

At most, only a third of people see themselves close to the way others see them, meaning that for most of us, we have some blind spots that may not be working as effectively for us as we would like.

In the words of Robert Burns (Scottish poet) – “Oh would some power the gift give us, To see ourselves as others see us.” (English translation)

However, you won’t find ‘set solutions’ on my website. My belief is that we “Start with the end in mind.” (Stephen Covey) and from your unique individual or organisational needs, we co-create the solution that is best for you.

My Methodology

My start point is to understand your needs, what’s important to you, what will make a difference to your organisation and your organisational culture. I will share possibilities and options with you and clarify what we expect of each other and how we will communicate throughout the project to achieve successful outcomes.

Once I am clear on this and you are satisfied, the next step is to develop customised programs that are engaging, thought provoking and designed to increase the transfer of learning back to the workplace.

You can rely on me to deliver on expectations and to review the program with you at its conclusion. For larger programs, a range of consultants can be made available to fit the solution and to meet your needs.

Sustainability of Learning

Recent findings on ‘transfer of learning’ reinforces that the greatest impact on transfer of learning to the workplace is the individual’s immediate Line Manager.
I strongly encourage participants to communicate with their Line Managers to embed the new skills learnt.
